On the sacred heart diet, some people are a bit weirded out by the idea of eating soup for breakfast. Is it really necessary?
In a word, Yes. Although it might seem unusual to you the first time you do it, it’s important that you do eat breakfast on the diet. Some try to skip breakfast and wait until lunch time but in reality, you aren’t doing yourself any favours and could be slowing down results. Your metabolism needs breakfast early in the morning so you can tell your body to start metabolising food again. This will help your body more easily metabolise the food you eat later on in the day as well.
On certain days there are fruits allowed on the menu so this makes breakfast simple but on day two, for instance, there isn’t any fruit so your options are: soup or some of the ingredients that are in the soup. Fried tomatoes (not too much butter) could be a nice choice for you or you can make a wrap using lettuce and filling with other raw or cooked vegetables. You might even feel like a plain tomato soup just on day two so that you’ve eaten something to get you through until mid-morning snack. Soup for breakfast isn’t all that strange, considering the fact that you probably already have hot liquids anyway. Even a small cup of soup will set your body on the right track toward detoxification and weight loss.
Would love some creative day 2 breakfast ideas from those who’ve done the diet!

I’m on my first day, I feel good! Jus hope I don’t get tired of the soup! My coworkers inspired me..there has been a total of 50pds lost between 3 of them..can I drink unsweetened prune juice?

Good luck! Please come back & tell us how it went. On fruit days you probably could drink prune juice. The soup gets a bit tired after a bit but there are some adaptations to the sacred heart soup recipe throughout this blog.
Cheers

I started this diet 6 days ago and believe me, it works!! I have been using the diet in combination with exercise. I was surprised to have only lost 6.8 pounds in 6 days of both dieting and exercising but its better than nothing, and it sure gave me a head start on my diet goals. I started out at 181 and now I’m 174.2 and my goal weigh is 150lbs. I love the idea of eating lots of fruits and vegetables it’s good practice for leading a healthy lifestyle. Trying to slim down for my wedding in August wish me luck!

Great going so far, Jasmine!
That sounds like a great loss in 6 days. Please keep us posted on your progress and feel free to share your exercise regimen, too.
